The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Islanders 4-3 in overtime. Defenseman Matt Hunwick scored his first career game-winning overtime goal. The Pens won the game despite blowing a 3-1 third period lead. Phil Kessel scored his 14th goal of the season. Jake Guentzel his 13th. The victory moved the Pens into a four-way tie for second place in the Metropolitan Division, one point behind first-place New Jersey.
