The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Bryan Rust scored a Penguins short-handed goal in the second period after the Oilers had taken a 1-0 lead in the first period. Rookie Teddy Blueger and newly acquired Jared McCann also scored for the Penguins. Goaltender Matt Murray stopped 38 of 39 shots, including a penalty shot by Edmonton’s Connor McDavid in the second period.
The Pens moved back into a tie with Columbus for third place in the Metropolitan Division, and are now four points up on Carolina for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
The Penguins host Calgary Saturday at 1pm. WISR pre-game is 12:30pm. The Penguins also host the New York Rangers Sunday at 12:30pm. WISR pre-game is noon.
