The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 last night, opening a three-game road trip. Sidney Crosby had three points in the game. He and Bryan Rust scored two goals each, with both collecting empty-net goals in the third period. Crosby now has 37 goals this season. Rust has 26.
The night also assures Crosby a 19th consecutive season averaging at least one point per game, tying Wayne Gretzky for the all-time NHL record. He also has a five-game scoring streak.
The Pens visit the New Jersey Devils tonight. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:30pm.
