The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Detroit Red Wings 6-3 Sunday evening at PPG Paints Arena. The Penguins had six different goal scorers. Sidney Crosby scored an unassisted goal in the game and has tied Wayne Gretzky for the seventh-most goals with a single franchise in NHL history. It was the first goal in 11 games for Crosby.
The Pens are five points behind the Red Wings for the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot with 15 games remaining in their regular season. The Pens begin a three-game road trip in New Jersey Tuesday. They will also visit Dallas Friday and Colorado Sunday. They have just six home games remaining in that schedule and nine on the road.
The Pens lost 7-4 Saturday to the New York Rangers.
