The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 in overtime last night at PPG Paints Arena. Conor Sheary scored 16 seconds into the overtime period. It was his second goal of the night. The Pens erased 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3 leads by the Sabres during the game. The Pens had 45 shots on goal. Penguins goaltender Matt Murray stopped 28 of 32 shots by Buffalo.
Former Penguins goaltender Antii Niemi was waived by the Florida Panthers, and has now been claimed by Montreal. Niemi is 0-4 with a 6.74 goals-against average.
Penguins broadcaster Mike Lange missed last night’s radio broadcast due to illness. The 69-year Hall of Famer
had announced earlier this season he would work a reduced schedule, with just 15 road games, but planned to due all home broadcasts.
