The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena.
Sidney Crosby scored one of the Penguins goals and passed Mario Lemieux for the most points in team history. Kris Letang had two assists in the game and became the 20th NHL defenseman with 600 career points. It was the Penguins third straight victory. They improved to 5-2 and are tied for first place with four teams in the Metropolitan Division through seven games.
Goaltender Arturs Silovs stopped 23 of 24 shots against his former team. The Penguins acquired him from Vancouver in July.
The Penguins visit the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers Thursday night. The Panthers defeated the Boston Bruins 4-3 last night.
