Penguins president of hockey operations, Kyle Dubas, made his first trade with his new organization prior to the draft Wednesday. Dubas sent the Penguins 3rd round pick in the 2024 draft to the Vegas Golden Knights for 32-year old winger Reilly Smith. He had 26 goals and 56 points with a plus-11 rating for the Stanley Cup champions this season. Reilly has two years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $5 million per season.
