Major League Baseball Playoffs:
–The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 last night in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series. The Phillies hit three home runs and built an early 5-0 lead. Bryce Harper hit a two-run home run in the first inning on his 31st birthday. Phillies starting pitcher Zac Wheeler allowed two runs on three hits over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out eight. Game 2 is in Philadelphia tonight at 8:07pm.
–The Texas Rangers built a 4-1 lead through the first three innings and hung on to win 5-4 over the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series. Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed three runs on five hits over his six innings and struck out nine. He pitched out of a bases-loaded jam with no-outs in the fifth inning without allowing a run. The Rangers lead the series 2-0 Game 3 moves to Texas and resumes Wednesday.
