The Pittsburgh Pirates won game one of their four-game series with the Atlanta Braves last Thursday, then were blown out from their as the Braves took the next three games by outscoring the Bucs 33-3. JT Brubaker allowed all seven earned runs via home runs in 5-1/3rd innings. He allowed seven hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
Atlanta hit 15 home runs in the four-game series, including Sunday’s 7-1 win. It was the most round-trippers the Pirates have allowed in a series. They gave up a major league record seven home runs and two grand slams in a 20-1 loss Saturday.
Atlanta leads all of baseball with 78 home runs this season.
The Pirates are off today and begin a six-game home-stand Tuesday, with the first of three games with the Chicago Cubs. They have fallen 10-games under .500 at 18-28.
