The Pittsburgh Pirates avoided a series sweep by the Boston Red Sox after an 8-2 victory last night. Bryan Reynolds hit two more home runs and drove in four runs. He now has 20 home runs this season. Kevin Newman also had three hits. JT Brubaker earned his third victory of the year with seven shutout innings. He allowed just two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
The Pirates host the Cincinnati Reds for a weekend series beginning tonight at PNC Park. Tonight’s game begins at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:40pm.
