The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 in 11-innings Monday, coming back from a 4-0 deficit. Pirates starter Chris Archer pitched five scoreless, but the Pirates bullpen and defense gave away their second game of the season, allowing the Cardinals to get back into the game several times.
Richard Rodriguez allowed three runs in the seventh without recording and out. Steven Brault allowed the Cardinals game-winning run in the 11th to take the loss.
Pirates starter Chris Archer did not allow a run over five innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight.
Third baseman Colin Moran had two of the Pirates six hits and drove in three. He had a double and home run.
The Bucs and Cards are off today. They complete the two-game series tomorrow night.
