The Pittsburgh Pirates erased a 6-1 deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-8 last night at PNC Park. Tyler Callihan led the Bucs with four hits, including two home runs. He drove in four and scored three times. Spencer Horwitz hit his ninth home run of the season. The Bucs scored eight runs combined in the seventh and eighth innings.
Jared Jones allowed two earned runs on three hits in his latest outing. He struck out four over his four innings. Carmen Mlodzinski allowed four earned runs on three hits over the next 3-2/3rd innings. Gregory Soto earned his ninth save of the year, despite allowing a two-run home run to Shohei Ohtani in the top of the ninth inning.
The Bucs and Dodgers complete their series tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates.
The Miami Marlins come to Pittsburgh for a three-game series Friday night.
The Pirates have lost centerfielder Oneil Cruz to the 10-day Injured List. Cruz suffered multiple hand fractures while sliding into home during the Atlanta Braves series. The Pirates have recalled Billy Cook to replace him on the current roster.
