Prior to their opening-day game in St. Louis, the Pittsburgh Pirates have reached a contract extension agreement with third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes. The reported deal is for eight years and $70 million. The contract with have a club option for a ninth year. The 25-year old Hayes made an impressive, long-awaited debut in the fall of 2020, but struggled with a wrist injury last season.
This will be the largest contract the Pirates have ever handed out.
