The Pirates played without Bryan Reynolds and Cole Tucker, who were both placed on the COVID list before the game. Suwinski started in right field, and had his first major league hit.
Major League Baseball and the players association has agreed to allow teams to have an extra pitcher for the month of May. The two sides announced Tuesday that teams can carry as many as 14 pitchers from May 2nd thru the 29th. The move is the result of the shortened spring training following the owner’s lockout.
