The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Cleveland Indians 5-3 in their final exhibition game of the latest preseason last evening at PNC Park. Derek Holland, who joined the Pirates for this season as a free agent, allowed three runs, two earned, in three innings of work.
The Pirates begin their regular season tomorrow night in St. Louis. Game time is 8:15pm. Hear the game on WISR 680am beginning at 7:50pm.
It is Major League Baseball’s opening day. The defending World Series champion Washington Nationals host the New York Yankees tonight at 7pm.
The second game will feature the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the San Francisco Giants at 10pm.
The Dodgers have signed outfielder Mookie Betts to a 12-year $365 million contract. The Dodgers acquired Betts from the Boston Red Sox in February.
The Pennsylvania state health department has denied the Toronto Blue Jays intent to use PNC Park in Pittsburgh as their home stadium this season. The Blue Jays were previously denied use of their home stadium by Canada because of pandemic concerns.
