The Pittsburgh Pirates snapped a three-game losing streak with their highest run output of the season in a 10-3 victory over the Washington Nationals last night at PNC Park. The Bucs pounded 14 hits in support of Paul Skenes, who earned his second win of the year. Skenes allowed one earned run over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. Skenes bounced back from the worst outing of his career, when allowed five runs to the St. Louis Cardinals last week.
Enmanuel Valdez and Ke’Bryan Hayes drove in three runs each. Every Pirate batter had at least a hit in the game. The Bucs went 8-for-10 with Runners in Scoring Position and only left four runners on base.
The Pirates committed for errors in the game, including two by Skenes during pick-off moves to first base.
The Bucs host the Nationals again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm.
