The Pittsburgh Pirates shutout the St. Louis Cardinals 7-0 last night at PNC Park, in the opening game of a three-game series. Andrew Heaney took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. He left with two outs in the seventh inning after allowing three hits. He walked one and struck out seven. The Bucs had 11 hits in the game, led by Spencer Horwitz and Bryan Reynolds, who had two hits each. Horwitz had a home run and a double.
The Pirates have now won four games in a row, while outscoring their opponents 37-4.
The Bucs and Cards play again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates.
The Pirates four-game win streak has included all four victories by at least seven runs.
