The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 last night at PNC Park. It was the opening game of the Pirates final three-game series of the season. The Pirates drew four consecutive walks in the ninth inning to force home the winning run, after outfielder Jack Suwinski tied the game in the eighth inning. It was his 19th home run of the year. Mitch Keller tossed five innings, allowing six hits and both St. Louis runs.
The Pirates and Cards play again tonight at 6:35pm. WISR pre-game is 6:10pm.
The Philadelphia Phillies locked up their first playoff spot since 2011 following a 3-0 win over the Houston Astros last night. The win eliminated the Milwaukee Brewers.
