The Pittsburgh Pirates lost their eighth game in a row after losing 1-0 last night to the Cincinnati Reds. The Pirates managed just three singles in the game. JT Brubaker started for the Pirates and was a tough-luck loser. He allowed just the one Reds run on five hits. Brubaker pitched into the sixth inning, striking out four and walking one.
The Bucs have now been swept in back-to-back series and begin a five-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals tonight at PNC Park. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. Steven Brault will start for the Pirates. He is 0-3 with a 5.06 ERA this season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first Major League Baseball team to clinch a playoff spot yesterday with a 7-5 win over the San Diego Padres. There is an expanded 16-team playoffs during this coronavirus-shortened, 60-game season.
