The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Seattle Mariners 11-1 last night at PNC Park. The Bucs had 15 hits in the game, including six doubles. They were led by Ryan O’Hearn, who had four hits and three of those doubles. Starting pitcher Braxton Ashcraft allowed one run over six innings. He allowed five hits, while striking out ten. He did not walk a batter, improving his record to 7-3 this season with a 3.07 ERA.
Carmen Mlodzinski earned his second save of the season, closing out the game with three scoreless innings.
Ashcraft is the first Pirates pitcher since 1901 to have multiple starts with 10-strikeouts and no walks in a season.
The two teams complete their series this afternoon at 12:35pm. WISR pre-game begins at 12:10pm. Bubba Chandler will start for the Bucs.
