The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Washington Nationals 9-4 last night at PNC Park. Daniel Vogelbach led the Bucs with four hits and scored three times. Cole Tucker added three hits. The Pirates bullpen had another solid outing, with rookie Roansy Contreras pitching three scoreless innings and earned his first major league victory. He allowed one hit and struck out five. The Pirates evened their record at 3-3.
The Bucs and Nationals play again tonight at 6:35pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:10pm.
The Pirates have reached a two-year contract with outfielder Bryan Reynolds. The deal is worth $13.5 million and avoids an upcoming arbitration hearing. Reynolds had a two-run home run in last night’s game.
