The Pittsburgh Pirates lost 9-0 last night to the Chicago Cubs in the opening game of their three-game series at PNC Park. The Bucs have now lost four consecutive games at home, and have been shut-out by other teams an Major League Baseball-leading five times.
The Pirates had seven hits in the game, but left nine men on base in the shutout. Pirates pitching allowed the Cubs 13 hits, including four home runs. Pirates starter Andrew Heaney allowed four earned runs on two homers over 4-2/3rd innings. He walked three and did not strike out a batter.
The Bucs and Cubs play again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm.
