The Pittsburgh Pirates shutout the Texas Rangers 4-0 last night. Mitch Keller pitched into the eighth inning, allowing three hits and striking out 10. Aroldis Chapman and David Bednar closed the game with scoreless innings. The Rangers never put a runner in scoring position during the game.
Oneil Cruz had a triple among his two hits. Bryan De La Cruz had a hit and drove in two runs. Connor Joe and Rowdy Tellez added doubles.
The Bucs and Rangers complete their series this afternoon at 2:35pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 2:10pm. Domingo German will make his first start for the Pirates.
The Pirates return home following today’s game to begin a seven-game home-stand. The first of four games will be with the Cincinnati Reds Thursday night.
