The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Minnesota Twins 1-0 in Grapefruit League play Tuesday, and improved to 11-10-1 this spring. Adam Frazier hit a sixth-inning solo home run for game-winning shot. He had another two-hit game. Right-handed starting pitcher Chase De Jong pitched three perfect innings to begin the game. He allowed a lead-off single in the fourth inning, then exited the game after recording two more outs. Mars native David Bednar continued his solid spring. Bednar completed the fourth inning for De Jong with a five-pitch strikeout, then had a 1-2-3 fifth inning with just six pitches.
The Pirates host Atlanta this afternoon.
