The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 last night. The Pirates wasted a solid start by Mitch Keller, who allowed both Mets runs over his seven innings. Keller allowed five hits and struck out eight. His record fell to 1-5.
The Pirates had seven hits in the game, but left 12 men on base. They were 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
The Mets and Pirates complete their three-game series tonight at 7:10pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:45pm. The Bucs will be off tomorrow, then begin a three-game series in Philadelphia Friday night. Bailey Falter starts for the Pirates tonight against former Pirates reliever Clay Holmes, who is now starting for New York.
Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes will pitch for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which will be played in Houston and Miami next March.
