Former Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole had his 20-game win streak snapped Wednesday with a 5-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Cole had been unbeaten in 28 consecutive regular-season starts, two shy of the Roger Clemens all-time mark. Cole’s only loss in the last 15 months had come in the World Series opener last year against Houston.
