For the second consecutive night the Pittsburgh Pirates put together a comeback victory over the first-place Milwaukee Brewers, scoring four times in the sixth inning for a 4-3 win at PNC park. Francisco Cervelli and Josh Harrison hit home runs in the inning. Cervelli had two hits in the game, while Harrison drove in two with his round-tripper. Ivan Nova scattered 10 hits, but allowed just the three runs in earning his 10th win of the season. Felipe Rivero earned his eighth save while striking out the side in the ninth inning.
Gerrit Cole goes to the mound for the Bucs tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. The Bucs and Brewers wrap up their four-game series tomorrow at 12:35pm. The Pirates begin a trip west Friday night in Colorado.
The Pirates are now two games under .500 at 46-48 overall. They are now five games behidn the Brewers and remain 7-1/2 back in the Wild Card race.
Outfielder Starling Marte returned to the Pirates lineup last night after an 80 game suspension from Major League Baseball for steroid use. He went 1-for-3 with a walk while batting leadoff.
Brewers catcher Stephen Vogt was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained MCL in his left knee after Monday’s collision at home plate with Pirates pitcher Chad Kuhl.
