The Pittsburgh Pirates gave away a four-run lead, but still defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-7 last night. The game was the first of a three-game series at PNC Park.
Catcher Henry Davis had a go-ahead single in the sixth inning, scoring Andrew McCutchen.
Rookie Bubba Chandler allowed three earned runs on six hits over four innings, in relief of starting pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski, but still earned his second victory in three appearances. Chandler allowed two home runs, including one to Shohei Ohtani in the Dodgers third inning. It was the hardest hit ball of Ohtani’s career.
Jared Triolo and Tommy Pham led the Bucs with two hits each.
Ohtani’s round-tripper had an exit velocity of 120 miles per hour, the hardest hit ball of his career. It was his 46th home run of this season.
The Pirates host the Dodgers again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm.
