The Pittsburgh Pirates evened their series with the Washington Nationals with a 5-1 victory last night at PNC Park. Right-fielder Josh Palacios had two hits including a two-run home run. Jack Suwinski and Endy Rodriguez also had two hits each. Rodriguez scored twice. The Pirates also took advantage of 10 walks by Washington pitchers, four of them intentional. Pirates starting pitcher Bailey Falter earned his second victory of the season, allowing just one run on four hits over six innings.
Despite the win, the Pirates left 15 men on base, and went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
The Bucs and Nationals meet again tonight at 6:35pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:10pm.
The Pirates have recalled Quinn Priester to the big club. Since being sent back to Triple-A Indianapolis last month, the former #1-draft pick of the Bucs had 32 strikeouts over 20 innings, with a 2.66 ERA. He may appear in a bullpen role tonight
