The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Washington Nationals 9-4 last night in the opening game of a four-game series at PNC Park. A day after being no-hit in Chicago Wednesday, the Pirates managed eight hits against Washington. Bailey Falter earned his seventh victory of the season. He tossed five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. Second baseman Nick Gonzales drove in three runs.
The Bucs and Nationals play again tonight at 6:40pm. Luis Ortiz will start for the Pirates.
