The Pittsburgh Pirates have parted ways with their starting first baseman.
Officials say that the team traded Josh Bell to the Washington Nationals on Thursday in exchange for pitchers Wil Crowe and Eddy Yean.
Crowe made his Major League debut in 2020 with the Nationals. Yean signed a non-drafted free agent deal with Washington in 2020. Josh Bell, 28, earned an all-star game appearance with the Buccos earlier in his career. His contract will continue through 2022.
In other news, officials announced on Saturday that outfielder Gregory Polanco broke a bone in his wrist recently during a winter league game in the Dominican Republic. Officials believe that the 29-year-old will be ready for the 2021 season.
