The University of Pittsburgh has extended the contract of men’s basketball coach Jeff Capel. The new contract will keep him with the Panthers through the 2029-30 season. Capel has gone 46-23 over the past two seasons, and recently saw two of his players move on to the NBA. One of the players was a first round NBA lottery pick. Pitt reached the NCAA tournament two years ago, and last year reached the ACC Tournament semifinals. The Panthers just missed a return to the national tournament this year and were named one of the four “First Four” teams out.
“Bub” Carrington was the recent “lottery” draft pick by Washington in the first round of the NBA draft, and Blake Hinson has shown his tremendous talent early in his career this summer within the Los Angeles Lakers organization.
