The latest College Football Playoff Rankings kept the top four unchanged, the same as this week’s Associated Press poll. The only change in the top-10 was Oregon jumping Ole Miss for sixth. After their victory over Georgia Tech last Saturday night, Pitt has returned to the same position they were in prior to their loss to Notre Dame, #22.
Pitt will host Miami Saturday for a noon kick-off at Acrisure Stadium. The Hurricanes currently are ranked inside a playoff spot at #12.
IF the playoff games began this weekend – Miami would face Oregon.
Pitt’s path to the CFP is deeply complicated. They first would have to upset Miami at home this Saturday, then hope either SMU or Virginia loses to gain entry into the ACC championship game. The Panthers would have to win that game, and still would need some additional help.
