Some residents have been informed that the planned power outage for Saturday, November 2, 2109 has been canceled.
First Energy, which includes West Penn Power, planned to shut off power in areas of Butler, Slippery Rock, and West Sunbury from 8am-2pm. The key here is that you would have been contacted by First Energy if you were going to be affected.
According to First Energy, this is not expected to be a rolling outage. These planned outages are scheduled throughout the year for maintenance or upgrades and are not emergency related. Although, there are some variables that could result in every resident not being affected by this potential outage or the outage not occurring at all.
We talked to First Energy and they said that if you were called by the company, then expect no power on Saturday, but only if you were called. That could mean someone you know, or lives close-by, would have power when you don’t. It is also important to note that if you have not provided a recently updated phone number to the company, they may not be able to reach you.
The other variable to this planned outage possibly not occurring is due to Thursday’s weather. First Energy is expecting to work through the weekend to restore power to those who were affected by the wind and downed trees and that may result in this planned outage needing to be rescheduled.
If you have any questions regarding this possible outage or if you need to update your phone number with First Energy, please call them at 1-888-544-4877.
