A little less than 500 West Penn Power customers will be having a planned power outage later today.
Todd Meyers is a spokesperson for First Energy and he says customers who will be impacted by the outage have been called already. The repairs are to two poles in the area—one on Henricks Road, and the other on Spring Run Road.
“Believe me, we know it’s not convienient. But it never is. The alternative is having something break at a wild time, so instead of five or six hours when you know it’s going to be out, to something that lasts quite a bit longer and you never know when it comes back on,” Meyers said.
Meyers said the scheduled outage is estimated from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
He also says to make sure your contact information is updated with First Energy because that’s how they will get in touch with you if an outage is being planned.
“The way we communicate that to customers, is that we call those customers. Because you can’t say it’s on any given road or in any given town because then everyone on that street thinks they’re impacted and they’re not.”
Meyers says going to First Energy’s website and updating your contact info there is the easiest way to change it.
