After a year without students, plans to transfer ownership of the Butler Middle School are again progressing.
At their meeting earlier this week, Butler School Board members were informed by Superintendent Dr. Brian White that the non-profit Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation has completed their months-long study of the facility and developed a plan for use.
School administrators and clerical staff will be participating in a clean-out day on Thursday in order to distribute materials still at the Middle School for use elsewhere in the district. An auction will then take place in July or August to empty the facility of remaining unnecessary items.
Representatives from Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation are expected to present more details to the Board in August about turning the structure into a “multi-use training and business facility”.
With documents currently being prepared, a closing is expected sometime in September to transfer ownership of the property to the PGC for one dollar.
