State Police in Mercer County have charged a man they believe is responsible for the theft of an Amish person late last month.
Police have charged 23-year-old Todd Baker of Mercer for robbing an Amish man in Lawckawannock Township on Number 8 Road and then attempting to rob another on Leesburg Station Road on March 27.
Police were able to track Baker to a motel in Ohio where they found the driver of the vehicle at the time of the robbery who spoke with police about the robbery. The driver told police about his and Bakers role in the theft. The driver has not been formally charged.
Police also say that Baker used an airsoft pistol and the money stolen was used to purchase drugs.
Baker has been charged with robbery and criminal attempt. He’s been placed in the Mercer County Prison on $100,000 bail and a preliminary hearing has been set for April 17.
