State police have released more information about Tuesday night’s fatal crash on Route 38 in Oakland Township.
According to a public information report, the incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. near the dam and Spillway Lane when a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Randy Neely of Butler traveled into the opposing lane.
His vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Joshua Rock of Karns City. Neely’s vehicle flipped over and caught fire but bystanders were able to get him out of the vehicle. Bystanders were also able to extricate a passenger from Rock’s vehicle, 41-year-old Devon Rock, also of Karns City.
When crews arrived, they were able to move the vehicles apart and remove Joshua Rock from his vehicle. All three motorists were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital where Joshua Rock would later die from his injuries. A medical helicopter transported the other two people to a Pittsburgh trauma center where their conditions are unknown.
Crews were on the scene for more than four hours. Police are investigating Neely for Driving Under the Influence.
