A local man is in the Butler County Prison after he stabbed and shot at two people over the weekend in Harrisville.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the State Police, the incident happened Saturday just after 9:30 a.m. at a home in West Liberty.
Police say 47-year-old Gary Sweesy of Harrisville had been staying at a residence belonging to 46-year-old Lisa Toth and 52-year-old Erik Crooks. Toth and Sweesy got into an argument about missing personal items when Sweesy allegedly pressed the muzzle of a semi-automatic long rifle into Toth’s back and pulled the trigger.
Crooks attempted to get the rifle from Sweesy but was eventually stabbed in the back. Toth was able to call 911 and police took Sweesy into custody. The conditions of the victims are unknown at this time.
Sweesy has been charged with felony attempted Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, and Criminal Trespass.
