
We now have more information about a dog fighting incident that happened last week.
According to a press release from Butler City Police, an altercation between a loose dog and a leashed dog took place Tuesday around 4 p.m. near the intersection of North McKean and East Pearl Streets.
Officers found a large group of people attempting to separate the dogs when the situation escalated into a confrontation that included a man firing a gun to try to stop the fight between the dogs. The leashed dog died as a result of this attack.
James Fleeger has been charged with four summary offenses including Harboring a Dangerous Dog. Melissa Ofchinick was charged with two summary offenses connected to license and rabies tag. Daniel Potts was charged with a violation of city ordinance about discharging a firearm.
