One person died after a police chase and shootout that started in Butler City and ended in Allegheny County this weekend.
The incident began Friday night when police were called to a home in the 100 block of Whitmire Avenue in the City’s West End neighborhood for a 17-year-old male who was shot in the shoulder.
Police say the victim was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he is stable but serious condition.
Police say shooting happened at the corner of Ridge Avenue and West New Castle Street.
During their investigation, police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Devin Russell of Butler.
It was then on Saturday night when police from multiple departments began pursuing a white SUV in Butler County. The chase went into Allegheny County on I-279 when the SUV crashed and flipped over.
After the accident, state police say shots were fired leading to an officer-involved shooting. Police say Russell died as a result of the shooting.
City Police say anyone with video evidence or more information on the shooting should contact police.
