State police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to hit a trooper with his car during a police chase.
The incident started around 4:30 p.m. yesterday for a possible burglary in Fairview Township. State police arrived on scene, and that’s when 46-year-old Ronald Piper of Butler took off and led troopers on a chase into Armstrong County.
Police say during the chase, Piper saw a trooper on the side of the road who just laid down spike strips. Piper allegedly tried to hit the trooper with his vehicle.
He continued driving into a wooded area and was able to escape police.
Then earlier this morning, state police say they believe Piper stole a vehicle near Bear Road in East Franklin Township. That car was recovered near Swartzlander Lane in Clearfield Township, but it was damaged.
There is an active warrant for Piper’s arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Kittanning.
