Police are searching for a man they accuse of escaping from police custody after being allowed to seek medical treatment.
45-year-old Michael Demko of Butler was being housed in the Butler County Prison for an undisclosed reason.
On June 3 at 2 a.m. Demko was admitted into the prison and was cleared for incarceration.
Then at 9:45 a.m., Demko required medical attention and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. At 2 p.m. Demko was served furloughed paper,s allowing him to stay in the hospital until he recovered under the supervision of the Butler County Sheriffs office.
Three days later, Demko allegedly left the hospital with an IV in place and cardiac monitor. As of Tuesday, his whereabouts is unknown according to charging documents.
Demko has been charged with escape a second-degree misdemeanor.
