PennDOT is reminding drivers to celebrate responsibility for Labor Day weekend as they will be conducting checkpoint stop
Last year there were 114 crashes, 90 injuries, and six deaths during the Labor Day weekend due to alcohol, according to PennDOT data. There was also over 500 DUI arrests.
Drivers will also be checked for illegal drugs along with prescribed medication that can impair drivers. There are approximately 250 Drug Recognition Experts or specially tried officers to look for drivers impaired by drug use in Pennsylvania.
These stops across the commonwealth is funded by $6 million from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for impaired driving enforcement.
