A proposal in Harrisburg has introduced new legislation that would give the Pennsylvania Utility Commission more say over power restoration after large scale outages.
Senate Bill 1493, would give the PUC more oversight on how electric distribution companies restore power and who they restore power to first.
The bill will require electric companies to first restore power to protect the health and safety of children and any 24-hour care facility.
The PUC would be responsible to ensure electric companies are in compliance with the new regulations.
The bill has been introduced in the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure
