A state agency is offering to cover the costs of removing invasive trees and shrubs as well as replacing them with native species.
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is aiming to curb the spread of invasive species through the Pennsylvania Invasive Replace-ive Program.
Those interested in participating should remove an invasive tree or shrub from a property with permission from the owner, take a photo of the removed plant to submit with the pre-registration form, and attend an event to receive a replacement tree or shrub on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last. A local event will take place at Buffalo Creek Nature Park in Sarver on Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. until noon.
More information about this program as well as pre-registration can be found through the Governor’s Invasive Species Council website.
