Lawmakers in Harrisburg have proposed legislation that would ban surveillance pricing.
According to a recent report, stores use AI to form “algorithmic pricing” that could raise cost as high 23 percent per item. These rabid price changes often happen to the same goods at the same store at same time.
This law would prevent grocery stores from using personal data and AI to activity change prices.
The legislation has been introduced in the House Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee.
