A group of lawmakers are proposing a bill that would provide more funding to county prisons in order to have better security.
The legislative package is broken into five different parts which include:
- Upgrades to security and health infrastructure
- Bolstering staff to add more correction officers to fill shifts
- Eliminating parole opportunities for prisoners who attempt escaping.
- A required security audit.
- An alert system for escaped convicts.
The bill comes in the wake of the escaped killer from a prison in Chester County. One of the state representatives from Chester County is sponsoring the bill.
