The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is sharing tips on utility safety as wintry weather is set to arrive.
With heavy snow expected for New Year’s Eve, the snow could cause power outages and the PUC is offer tips on how to stay safe.
The PUC says to:
- Plan Ahead by keeping essential supplies near by
- Charge up all devices during storms
- Stay informed by keeping track of forecasts
- Report issues for utility companies
If you lose power during a storm the PUC says to:
- Use safe light, such as battery-operated lights
- Protect Appliances by turning them off after losing power
- Only run generators outside as they can cause carbon monoxide poisoning and do not connect it to the homes wiring
- Check on neighbors
When following these steps it helps utility workers as the work when responding to outages.
