The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is offering a review of a strong round of storms that impacted the region last spring.
In April of last year, there were significant storms that caused widespread power outages across the Pittsburgh area.
Now, the PUC has released a final report of how utilities responded to that event, and how they can be better prepared.
Officials found that utility companies were prepared in advance of the storms, but lacked sufficient staffing to properly respond. They also noted that estimated restoration times were not necessarily accurate.
The PUC also called for the re-establishment of a statewide Electric Distribution Company Storm Best Practices Group, saying it would provide better information to all utility companies in how to respond to significant outages.
